The Hôtel Le Calendal and the National School of Photography (École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie – ENSP) present
« CALENDAL FOCUS, THE PHOTOGRAPHIC COLLECTION OF THE HOTEL LE CALENDAL ».

CALENDAL FOCUS, consists of 40 original photographs commissioned from 40 artists graduated from the National School of Photography.

The collection is permanently exposed in the rooms of the hotel completely redone and renovated for the occasion.

The artworks were the object of an order preceded by a call for projects on 4 themes:

  • Arles and the Cinema,
  • Arles and the Literature,
  • Arles the Architecture, 
  • Arles and the Painting.

The ENSP (National School of Photography) provided the artistic and technical direction of the project.

The Calendal is an Arlesian hotel. Photography is part of its history since many photographers have stayed there and are still there for the “Rencontres de la Photographie” festival.

In addition to major cultural institutions in Arles (museums, foundations) that favor high-impact events, Le Calendal wanted to play its own card – young artists, emerging talents – relying on expertise of the National School of Photography.
